Dr. Hongtao Gu serves as an Islet Transplantation Scientist at Toronto General Hospital.
He holds a Master’s degree in Immunology and brings over 10 years of extensive clinical experience to his field. Dr. Gu is a seasoned expert in GMP cell production, cell therapy, cancer immunotherapy, and clinical human islet isolation, supported by multiple patented technologies.
Dr. Yuming Zhang earned his PhD in Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, and Regenerative Medicine after completing his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto.
His professional expertise focuses on microfluidic device fabrication and the engineering of artificial tissues, including skin, blood vessels, and bile ducts—integrated with sensitive cell cultures. He is currently developing organoid cultures and has two pending patents for innovative tissue engineering technologies.
